Spartan Bowl is 50 years old

The center photo was the opening tip off of the first game played in Spartan Bowl November 21, 1958. The other photos are of the varsity players and the photos were  photographed from the Connersville News-Examiner and the CHS Cohiscan. The girls at the bottom of the poster were the cheerleaders (yell leaders). The third person from the left is my Aunt Pat Hanlon. She died of lung cancer in 2003. She would have loved to  be at the  game  for the reunion at Spartan Bowl this year prior to the Connersville -Union County boys varsity basketball  game.  Actually I remember going to the games when I was four to see my Aunt Pat as a cheerleader in 1960. That was the year she graduated from CHS.
Here is a poster I created  to commemorate the 50th year of SpartanBowl. The photos are as  they  appeared in the Connersville News-Examiner on Monday, Nov. 24th 1958. The photographer was Bill Crone. The article states that the tip-off was on Friday night.  That is why the date is Nov 24th. I  photographed the page in the 1958 Novemeber 24th newspaper .
